EVENT - WALK FOR WATER EVENT IN AKWAIBOM STATE, NIGERIA.

Sustainable Development Goals, are aimed at championing policies for the stable sustenance of the Earth and Mankind, with that being said, I am super glad to be a team member of the multiple award winning youth led organization committed to ensuring that people especially women and children have ongoing access to Clean Water, Sanitation and Hygiene; Aimcare NG, hosted the first ever Walk for Water event in Akwa Ibom and the biggest in South South/ south east Nigeria.

The walk was to mark the 2018 World Water Day, to raise awareness on the Water poverty around the world, the need for people to preserve water and on the need to find solutions to water problems from Nature.

Speaking at the event , Mmekidmfon Umanah Founder and CEO of Aimcare NG argued that "many of us haven't really been thirsty, we've not had to miles to get water - or atleast not anymore- we just put on the tap and water comes out. CLEAN!
However, United Nations estimates that about 884million do not have access to clean water around the world.
Can you imagine spending 8 hours a day simply getting something to drink?"

He went further to assert that Access to Water is access to education, access to work, access-above all- to the kind of future we want for our own families. Clean water provides improved lives for women , better health and economic growth for a community.

The event had in attendance the Special Adviser Bureau of Water Resources and Political Affairs, the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau, the M.D. Akwa Ibom Water Company, the G.M. Akwa Ibom Rural Water and Sanitation Agency, the Chairman Akwa Ibom Borehole Drillers Association, our international partners (WaterEase, U.K. and Hope Spring Water, U.K.) Silverbird TV, Planet FM and so on.
