PHOTO OF THE WEEK - HOW MUCH OF THE PRETTY IS YOUR TRUTH BY YAGAZIEEMEZIE

Someone once told me "I am an instagram ghost" just there for sightseeing, am not going to post any of my pictures because I can't compete with  the picture perfect people I see on there * Inserts Surprise Emoji* But really, "How Much of the pretty is their truth?

The picture below got my attention, I was wondering why Yaga put up this picture until I read her powerful caption, then I thought to myself " Beauty isn't Flawless, it shines through your Flaws" Being a better version of ourselves is important, but we must first learn how to love and appreciate ourselves!

I saw the above picture on +Yagazie Emezi instagram handle, she is one of my best Visual Creative Photographer, here is what she said in the caption:

"Two women pause in a crowd, one with ethnic marks on her cheeks and the other with scars unknown, forming a twisted but unintentional grimace. - I had a magazine shoot last year where I blew up at someone because she wanted to edit out the giant scar on my leg because it was an 'editorial'. The idea that my image was about to be 'cleaned' up like so many others boiled my blood over. The thing is, the truth is so much easier to handle than a lie. There will always be pretty people and pretty images out there, but find your balance. How much of the pretty is your truth?

I was once in a shoot with the current MBGN 2015 +Unoaku Anyadike doing my creative directing and as I was trying to talk her into covering one of her flaws, she cut in saying " It is me, it is who I am, it is part of what defines me, if I loose it people will question me"

During a makeup and picture session with Unoaku.

What are your thoughts on FLAWED beauty? The Picture and the Write-up? WHAT IS THE STORY BEHIND YOUR SCARS?

  1. Those are wonderful thoughts. The society we live in would rather project beauty as something that isn't flawed, which is far from the truth. Greetings!
