PHOTO OF THE WEEK - FOOD ART BY HANEEFA ADAMS FOR #TECHMEETSARTNG COMPETITION


For the past one week and counting, this picture has been everywhere and I can't help but share it, talk about it and celebrate it because I love it and I hope you love it too. When I wanted to enter for the competition, this particular picture caught my attention and I thought to myself, this may be the winning Food Art. 
Art they say inspires technology! Almost a year after the first ‘Tech Meets Art’ competition in 2015, Samsung Mobile Nigeria and Rele Gallery came back with another innovative competition in 2016. This time, it’s all about food. “What’s Cooking?” Was the theme of the competition. The competition opened on Monday, April 18th, 2016 and the winning art was announced last week May 18 2016 at Rele Art gallery located at Onipanu Lagos Nigeria, where the food Art exhibition took place.  

My Unwavering love for Food, Arts and Technology led me into the competition. I registered here on www.techmeetsart.ng you can visit the site to view the over 300 entries that took part in the competition.  
 The winning food art deserved to win, because for me, 
-  Haneefa used all the ingredients(crayfish, onion, meat ogbono seed, okro, uu leaf and pepper) for preparing the native South East Nigeria Soup called Ogbono, to create a beautiful native African woman.

- The colours worked for me(brown, red and green) 

- It was beautifully, placed, well arranged and the shot was well taken.
I had to call my siblings to analyse that particular picture before I sent my entry, at the first glance, we thought it was a painting, then we finally realized it was real food ingredients!

the Judges were seasoned photographers Kelechi Amadi Obi, Ade Asiko Okelarin and Chefs Tiyan Alile, Dunni Obata and Ozoz Sokoh.
My food Art Here didn't win, but I loved my story below: 
I used Spring onions, onions, avocado pear, boiled egg and Utazi seed

The importance of family, love and togetherness, especially in this time of increasing divorce rate, most importantly my pregnant friend who is due for delivery soon, inspired my what is cooking Theme. The process of conception and all that goes on inside the womb I refer to as the cooking process. My friend works in a bank and she was given only 3 months of leave, which isn't enough to wean a child. As women, we should be advocating for our rights and favourable conditions, not equality. If we advocate for 6 months leave for nursing mothers, in the period of her absence, a contract staff can take over, when she is back from leave, the nursing mother and the contract staff can decide to work by shift and share the salary. working Mothers will have enough time to train good children for a better society, she earns, staff strength increases, everybody is happy.
