AFRICAN MAGIC VIEWERS CHOICE AWARDS (AMVCA) - MY FAV RED CARPET OUTFITS, THE AWARDS, THE HIGHS N’ LOWS

The AMVCA has come and gone, but the tales from the Awards are still very fresh in the minds of Africans. It seems like the only thing we always remember after Awards, is the red carpet moment and outfits like it’s some kind of runway fashion parade, of cause that’s why there is a red carpet. But come to think of it, this is the second edition of the AMVCA, it was held at the prestigious Eko Hotels and suites Victoria Island Lagos Nigeria, on the 8th of March 2014, as Africa’s best in the film making industry came out to be recognized by Multichoice at the AMVCA which was sponsored by the low shugar malt drink AMSTEL MALT. It got bigger, better and the Award categories were well defined. Thanks to the organizers, the initiators, the technical crew and the Awardees. AFRICA HAS COME OF AGE
MY FAV RED CARPET OUTFIT AT THE AMVCA

MY best overall dressed – Uti Nwachukwu. But seriously who can rock an Ankara Blazer and a matching trouser, a white shirt, a red tie and a red shoe? Only Uti, the onetime BBA star mixed the primary colors well, he looked dapper in it. Now that’s what I call UBER STYLISH in ETHNIQUES, he represented. His outfit would sell on the international red carpet. I can go on and on about that outfit, thanks to the designer DAVID BOWLER.

THESE ARE THE FEW DESIGNES I SAW THAT WOWED ME.
It is normal for the guys to look dapper in their blazers and suits, then the ladies in their evening gowns, I wasn’t really expectant on the outfit, but I was wowed when I saw these outfits.

Osas Ighodaro one of the co host, looked beautiful in all the outfits she wore, especially the white one by ICONIC INVANITY. Genevive Nnaji wore a crop top, matching long skirt and a mesh white gown over it, by JEWEL BY LISA, Agbani Darego’s tail gown by MEENA was spectacular, Osita Iheme represented well with his Agbada, Ohimia Atafo’s blazers stood out, sure he designed it. Eku Edewor’s peplum sleeveless top and matching skirts by Clan, then Toke Makinwa’s mustard outfit was daring but lovely, Chidi Mokeme, Ik Ogbonna and Julius Agwu’s Suits were distinct.

MY HIGH MOMENTS
Shirley Frimpong Manso was the biggest winner of the night, she dedicated one of her Awards in her voice “I dedicate this Award to all the women who do not rely on their beauty but hardwork, Happy International Women’s day, then the carmera navigated to a white man pecking his wife in acknowledgement and appreciation of the International Women’s day WOW! Of course it was the MD of Mnet’s Birthday and a car was given to the trailblazer winner Michelle Bello. I liked when Funke Akindele complimented Mike Ezuronye, made him blush by telling him he looked handsome when they both came to present an Award. The height was the opening, Uncle Ben Ogbevwei, his dance and music crew did well. Thanks to the Engineers, the technical crew, and the hosts IK Osakioduwa, Vimbia and Osas, it was worth while viewing from home.

MY LOWS
The mix up from Monalisa chinda and John Okafor when they came to present an Award, they announced a different name for a different award, not their fault though; they were given a different category that didn’t correspond to the category announced.
In Summary, AMVCA has put African movie industry on the map; it has promoted hard work, Entertained the world, Encouraged raw Acting, writing, directing and producing skills, boosted the creative industry in terms of show casing fashion, make up, talents, skills and our culture.
Thanks to all who showed up from their countries, the nominees, winners, Africa and Mnet.

What do you think about the Awards?

FEATURED - HANDMAID IN AFRICA:ANKARA CRAFT

I like to celebrate people who inspire others; I like to celebrate Africa, I like to celebrate young entrepreneurs like myself. The last time I was at the 2013 July edition of the LPM, I met an interesting young woman who fascinated me with her works by breaking away from the norm and doing something different. It’s the CEO Hand Maid in Africa, let’s meet her. Nene Aderohunmu is a young woman who is into stationeries such as pencil cups, books, sticky pads, diary, and household decorative like wall frames, picture frames, and jewelry box all made with Ankara and hand crafted by her. ETHNIQUE:  How and when did you start?
