The main focus for this post is embellishment on fabrics, the detailing on fabrics can be in prints, patterns, graphic designs on clothes, tye & dye, lace, batik, buttons, zips, Embroidery e.t.c. The embellishment in focus is EMBROIDERY. Embroidery is the art or craft of decorating, embellishing and adding details to  fabrics or other materials by stitching designs using thread or yarn. The use of embroidery to decorate clothes has been in existence since man began to wear clothes and has been traced back to Iron age. several excellent examples of beautiful embroidery work are still surviving till date in Ancient Egypt, India, China, Persia, England and our very own Nigeria.

The Northern people of Nigeria are known for decorating their fabrics like the jalamia{long piece of clothing in form of a gown}, Kaftan with embroidery and its often worn by wealthy male northerners while the yorubas from the western part of Nigeria embellish their Agbada and buba with embroidery.
Thanks to modern day fashion and evolution, embroidery has come to stay, most Nigerian designers like YOMI CASUALS who works with embroidery in stylish modern designs and fabrics, too many Nigerians are embracing it, its now worn stylishly. I have come to realize you don't have to be a man or an Aboki to embellish your dress with embroidery.

TIPS: When you wear a dress with details or embellishment such as embroidery, avoid much accessories like bulky necklace. A simple necklace, stud earring, bracelet and wristwatch then light makeup would do, so you don't take the attention away from your dress.
2. you can embellish not just your dress with embroidery, but you can also do it on your shoes and bags.

FEATURED - HANDMAID IN AFRICA:ANKARA CRAFT

I like to celebrate people who inspire others; I like to celebrate Africa, I like to celebrate young entrepreneurs like myself. The last time I was at the 2013 July edition of the LPM, I met an interesting young woman who fascinated me with her works by breaking away from the norm and doing something different. It’s the CEO Hand Maid in Africa, let’s meet her. Nene Aderohunmu is a young woman who is into stationeries such as pencil cups, books, sticky pads, diary, and household decorative like wall frames, picture frames, and jewelry box all made with Ankara and hand crafted by her. ETHNIQUE:  How and when did you start?
